Uncommon in Lac qui Parle County in the Spring season
15 of the 30 American Avocets that landed in Big Stone National Wildlife Refuge this morning. Seen from the platform at the beginning of the Auto Tour. Eastward, the entire stretch of shoreline along the river to the West Pool has had its cattails burnt off, yielding excellent mudflats. There were upwards of 1000 shorebirds of multiple species present.
